Elasia's communit crackles to life and announces "... measurements... some...
and compare... Computer..." in Kyara's voice.
Elasia is speaking quietly into her comm, you can't hear her, really, so she
doesn't have to edit what she's saying because of your presence, yeah, that's
it. ;)
Elasia says "Oooo-kaay." She sounds confused, she -is- confused. "Isn't Riley,
well taller and skinner?" into her communit.
Niko doesn't hear a thing, nope. That's mainly because he's still on those blasted skates, and his progress across the room is interesting, to say the least. He finally stops using the patented "falling" method, and starts the process of skate-removal. No, nothing's broken. Seeing that you're on the comm, he lifts a hand, but much of his attention is on removing the skates.
Elasia's communit crackles to life and blares "... or... like... you... out..."
in Kyara's voice.
Elasia's eyes widen at the be-skatedness, "Having any luck dear? Break
anything?" Oooh, she's all innocence.
Elasia says "*muttering something about always knowing Niko had a lot in common with a tree* Well, umm, I hope it works for you." into her communit.
Niko fumbles with the buckles. "Nothing's broken, hon. Lots of bruises, but I'm
all in one piece." Finally releasing the buckles on one skate, he pulls it
off, then adds, "Cobblestones are evil. But it's better than having every
fall immortalized on the security cameras."
"You tried to skate on -cobblestones-?" Elasia's brows lift, regarding you with faint dismay. "Niko, love, I think you need a nap. Or several."
Elasia's communit crackles to life and says "Of... then... is... bite?... who's... hanging... with... too much.)" in Kyara's voice.
Elasia says "I take the fifth, on the grounds that anything I say could
incriminate me." into her communit.
Niko points out, as he pulls off the second skate and wiggles his toes, "No
cameras in the java quarter, except on the tourists. Might try it again." So
he can fall into the fountain, see.
Elasia's communit crackles to life and announces "... It... worse.... nobody's
calling him... for... help,..." in Kyara's voice.
Elasia just shakes her head with a rueful chuckle, "Only you, Niko... Still,
did you have any fun?"
Elasia says "Sure, anytime." into her communit.
Niko nods at that. "Lots of fun," he says brightly. "I came up with new and
constructive ways to fall--without breaking anything. Zero of four broken
bones. So when're -you- going to get skates, hm?"
You faintly hear a chime mark the hour.
Elasia regards you rather askance, chuckling as she drops down to sit on one end of the couch. "See, now you may not have broken anything, but you haven't learned not to -fall- either. Somehow the sport doesn't yet appeal..."
Niko says brightly, "I learn to stop without falling, then I'll stop falling.
Easy as that. It's just the stopping that's the difficulty. Besides, I'll bet
you'd be a lot better at this."
Elasia tucks her legs up beneath her to sit cross-legged, still watching you. "You might want to take a long hot shower," she suggests, "So those bruises don't stiffen up too much." She shakes her head, "Maybe some other time. It'd involve actually having to go out and find a pair, see."
Niko scoots over to sit at your feet, leaning lightly against your legs. "In a
bit," he agrees. "I'm not due at work til late shift, so I've got a little
time. And finding 'em should be easy enough. I can just ask Riley where he
got mine."
Elasia reaches down to toy idly with your hair, brushing through it carefully.
"True enough. Still, I'd rather you figure it out first, so you can show me."
She chuckles softly.
Niko nods agreeably enough. "Sure, hon." He rests an arm against one of your
knees, lightly pillowing his head on said arm. "It might take a while,
though. Especially if I keep trying it outside. Though if I can manage it
-there-..."
Elasia takes advantage of your position to trail her fingers down through your hair and lightly to your neck. "I think you might really want to try learning on something a bit smoother, it sounds like it would be more fun certainly."
Niko nods at that. "Lots of marble in here. That's very smooth. But the
-cameras-. I mean, I don't really want to give Anya and all ammo for the
bulletin board. Not to mention... well, I still can't stop. If I plowed into
a diplomat or somebody, that'd be bad. Have to see if there's something
better than the Quarter, though."
"Are there at least some sidewalks anywhere you could try?" Elasia suggests with a chuckle, "Anything's better than cobblestones."
Niko finally gets to his feet, sprawling on the couch with you. "Sidewalks
sound key. I'll have to keep an eye out for poor, innocent passers-by.
Wouldn't want to hit them, either." He sits up to claim a kiss, then
inquires, "How's your day?"
Elasia shifts a bit to afford you space and to offer herself up as pillowage. "Maybe one of the parks or something." She shakes her head lightly, "Not too bad, I'm in between meetings. I figured I'd come up and chill out a bit."
Niko seems more than happy to use you as a pillow. "That sounds like a really
good idea, hon. 'ja get lunch?"
Elasia makes a less than thrilled face, but nods. "Yeah, one of those formal things. The conversation was great, but good grief, whoever caters those things is very silly. All carved flowers and such. Pretty, but tasteless." She chuckles, "If you're hungry though, there's plenty of nukeables."
Niko shakes his head. "I already got something, thanks--ate on the run, as it were." He grins up at you, adding, "That formal luncheon thing sounds like ever so much fun. Really. I'm so sorry I didn't get a chance to attend."
Elasia snickers quietly and edges down to poke you in the ribs, "Actually it
wasn't that bad, culinary criticism aside. There's a new treaty in the works
that us junior types barely get to hear hints of, and it was being discussed
pretty openly. So it was a good occasion to keep my mouth shut and just not
be noticed and garner tidbits."
Niko twitches away from the poking, with a quick grin. "Did you learn anything
interesting?" he queries. "Not to ask any diplomatic secrets, of course--just
-if- you learned anything."
"Yeah, although admittedly more about how they go about setting up treaties,
rather than this specific one." Elasia's fingers move back to your hair,
playing with it. "This one's a fascinating case, it was about ten minutes
away from actual war. Then a couple of ships, one of ours and one of theirs,
got into it, and both sides decided they -really- didn't want to do that
anymore. So they're hacking together a treaty."
Niko says promptly, "Good that they decided against it. Hopefully, they can get
a treaty that works for both sides." He reaches to capture your hand, with a
quick grin. "And that actually does sound fascinating, even to a Security
goon."
Elasia lets her hand be captured away from your hair, grinning. "See, that's the stuff I want to get to do. One of these days..."
Niko makes a sandwich, using his hands as the bread and yours as the filling.
He doesn't munch on it, though, fortunately. "You will," he says, sounding
quite certain of that. "Just a matter of time."
This is good. Ela would probably be a bit startled if you randomly began
chewing on her fingers. Although she probably wouldn't be -displeased- mind.
"It's what I came here for. Everything in due time. And besides, it makes
formal luncheons more than bearable, the chance to listen in on the higher
ups."
Niko does not chew on your fingers, though he does lightly kiss your
fingertips. "More than bearable is good," he decides, with a grin. "Do you
have the formal luncheons often?"
Elasia's grins brightens, and she leans down to plant a gentle kiss on your
forehead before straightening up. "Not too often. Interspersed with other
things. I don't have much of a schedule to speak of. It's very irregular, but
then it's an irregular business."
Niko nods his agreement. He, of all people, knows that your schedule is irregular. "I wasn't sure if you'd be here," he says, with a smile. "Almost stayed out skating a little more. I'm glad I came back."
Elasia grins down at you, "I'm glad you did too. Made my afternoon. It
certainly makes relaxing..well easier."
Niko grins brightly at that. "Well, I'm glad, hon. Anything I can do to help
you relax. Y'can always give me a buzz if you want me to come back, y'know.
I'd rather be with you, after all."
You faintly hear a chime mark the hour.
Elasia squeezes your hand gently, "Yeah, but see I hardly know what you're out there doing, to buzz you away from. Your work's not exactly...regular either."
Niko really can't deny that. "Good point. Even if I'm just doing paperwork, you can't know that." He considers that, then shakes his head. "No help for it," he murmurs. "Guess we'll just take what we can get."
Elasia nods amiably, settling in against the side of the couch. "We'll get the hang of it in time, and besides, even erratic time together is better than before when we didn't have any time together at all."
Niko shifts to sit up, shaking a wayward bit of hair out of his eyes. He
regards you for a moment, gaze oddly intent, but doesn't say anything,
instead kissing your cheek and settling against you once more. "Now," he says
softly, "Is most definitely better, yes."
Elasia's brows furrow at the intent look, she questions quietly, "Um, did I say
something wrong?" She edges in close to you. "The vagaries of scheduling are
hassles for everybody, anyhow. Not just us."
Niko shakes his head, curling his arms around you. "You didn't say anything
wrong at all, hon," he murmurs. "I'm just thinking is all. Dangerous stuff,
that. You were exactly right."
Elasia slides into the embrace, chuckling, "Okay, I wish points for valiantly resisting the urge to make a comment along the lines of, 'Thinking? They let security goons do that?'." Of course she just -said- it, so maybe no points after all. "Thinking is dangerous, yep. But still necessary once in a while."
Niko nods his agreement to that, with a quiet chuckle. "They don't let us think, actually," he informs you, his tone that of one sharing a confidence. "It's against regs, but I do it anyway, sometimes. Don't tell anybody, okay?"
Elasia manages a look of mock-shock, "I think I can keep your secret, love.
You'll have to be careful though, to keep anybody from -noticing-, won't
you... I mean -really-...thinking.."
Niko manages to keep a very straight face. "Nobody's noticed this long," he
says solemnly. "I think I'll be able to handle it, as long as you don't
tell." He grins, then, with a chuckle. "You've totally destroyed Riley's
worldview, by the way."
Elasia is following this, and following this, and then hits a speedbump. "Huh?" Yep, see that's the sound of a speedbump being struck, "What did I do?"
Niko snickers very quietly. "You're a diplomat, see?" He pauses to make sure
that you're following this, then adds, "But you're not evil. See... that's
contrary to what Riley believes." He's really trying not to laugh. "Maybe if
you pretend to be evil to him, see..."
Elasia is able to follow -this- more or less, "Diplomat...check. Not evil,
well, that's debatable." There's a pause, this idea sort of appeals. "Pretend
to be evil to him. I could probably manage that. Any suggestions for evil I
could inflict?"
Niko ponders that. "Wait, hon, you aren't -really- evil, are you?" He's joking,
yes. That wide-eyed naivete is feigned. "'cause if you're really evil,
well, then, Riley's just fine."
Elasia sighs as if caught out. She regards you with a serious expression,
although it does not reach her eyes. "I'm sorry you had to find out like this
Niko, but yes... I am evil. I didn't mean to be, honest, but the people came
door to door and I thought they were selling cookies...next thing I know I'd
signed up for the dark side."
Niko really tries to keep his deadpan expression, but it's a losing battle. He
finally dissolves into quiet laughter, hugging you for a moment and then
sneaking in a tickle while he believes that you can't escape. And folks say
-you're- evil.
Elasia makes one of those 'aaack I'm being tickled' noises, somewhere between a
squawk and a squeal and tries to edge away from your fingers, "Evil! Evil!
You must have signed up too!"
Niko stops tickling, though he doesn't release you just yet. "Yup," he agrees cheerfully. "See, they -had- cookies, and they bribed me."
Elasia squirms around to peer up at you, smiling in delight. "So cookies are
all it takes? I have a whole jar of them, how much bribery will that count
for?"
Niko considers that for a moment. "Depends what you want me to do," he says,
with a grin.
Elasia sighs quietly, giving this some thought, "Think, think, think..." As she says this she shifts into your lap, "Appropriate uses for bribes..."
Niko seems quite pleased to have an Ela in his lap, shifting his arms appropriately. "I'm sure you can come up with something, hon," he murmurs, mostly to your hair. "I have the utmost confidence in you."
You faintly hear a chime mark the hour.
Elasia rests her head against your shoulder, sighing softly with contentment.
"Can't imagine anything to ask for though. I have you here, with me... I'm
not sure this is toppable."
Niko kisses your forehead, murmuring, "I think it could be, maybe. It doesn't
get -much- better than this, though."
Elasia seems awfully content to remain half curled up in your lap. Her comm
hasn't gone off, she's just counting herself lucky. "I suppose..." She says
at last, "I really oughta let you up so you can take that aforementioned long
hot shower."
Niko shakes his head fractionally. "I don't want to move. I'll be fine. Rather
stay here with you. You know... take advantage of this break in our weird
schedules."
Elasia does not look at all displeased by this preference of yours and shifts her arms about you as best she can. "Sounds like a lovely idea." There's a pause as she gets her arms more or less into place, "I haff you now, trapped."
Niko says, sounding decidedly content, "Help. Oh, help. I'm trapped. Oh, no."
He grins brightly at you, inquiring, "What're you going to do with me, now
that you've got me trapped?"
Elasia doesn't even have to consider this one, "Keep you here forever and ever,
and not share you. All mine."
Niko ponders for a moment, then nods amiably. "Kay, that sounds good. You
didn't need to trap me for -that-, though."
Elasia blinks up at you a couple of times, "I didn't?"
Niko shakes his head slowly back and forth. "Think about it," he says, with a
grin. "I have you. We've got something to keep the rain off our heads. And
you think I'd -argue-?"
Elasia resettles her head against your shoulder, oblivious to the various curls that have sprung free of the confining tail and are making a break for freedom. "Well, err," she sounds a bit sheepish, "Yeah."
Niko gently smooths back some of those escapist curls, twining one lightly around a finger. "Why?" he asks, with a quick smile.
"You're male, there needs to a be a logical reason?" Elasia teases quietly
before shaking her head, "I don't really know. I guess I'm still a bit
stunned and all that everything turned out...so well I guess. Happy endings
are supposed to only happen in movies."
"You're male, there needs to a be a logical reason?" Elasia teases quietly
before shaking her head, "I don't really know. I guess I'm still a bit
stunned and all that everything turned out...so well I guess. Happy endings
are supposed to only happen in movies."
Elasia nods at that, although it's a slightly odd nod with her head on your shoulder. "By leaps and bounds. Although I'm sure most screenwriters would disagree. Sort of a lack of plot and all. Personally, I could give plot a miss and go right to the living happily ever after bit."
Niko grins rather crookedly. "We don't have much of a soundtrack, either." He
pauses a beat, then suggests carefully, "We could maybe add a little plot,
though."
Elasia pauses at the first, considering a moment, "I could get a kazoo?" she
offers. "Would that help?" She echoes the pause, brows lifting questioningly,
"Plot?"
Niko chuckles very quietly. "No... you don't need a kazoo. Thanks." His head bobs in a quick nod at the latter question, though. "Plot, yeah. If you like."
Elasia tilts her head to regard you in curiosity, "Hey, I'm always game for
plot I suppose. It depends on the kind of movie. I'm not -really- game for a
psycho-thriller or anything, call me crazy."
Niko shakes his head, with a short laugh. "Uh, no. No psycho-thrillers, I
promise. Though I did tell Kyara that I'm a psychopath, so I guess it'd be in
character."
Elasia pauses a moment, musing aloud, "Maybe -that's- why she called..." She
shakes her head, dismissing the idea. "I'm afraid I'm going to have to
disagree. You're too sweet to be a psychopath."
Niko nods agreeably. "If you say so, hon." He pauses, then, brows lifting. "Kya
called?"
Elasia nods slightly, "Yeah, wanted some information. I'm afraid I wasn't able
to help her."
Niko looks decidedly confused by that. "What did she want to know?"
"Various size things," Elasia explains, "She's conspiring to give you
something. I probably oughtent mention it, but considering this is the same
person who dyed your brother -green-..."
Niko acks quietly. "Ack." See? He acked. "I think I might be in trouble." With
a quiet snicker, he adds, "It might be plot, though? I mean.. if she turns me
some bizarre color, that'll count as plot."
Elasia consisders this a moment, "If you say so. It would be a very odd sort of movie." She chuckles, "Though anything around here would have to be."
Niko nods a firm agreement to that. "This is not a normal place." After a moment to consider, he asks, "What kind of movie would you prefer, then?"
"A chick movie," Elasia says affirmatively. "Most assuredly -not- a movie with
lots of things exploding and people getting shot. I think we've done that
flick already. Don't get me wrong, watching them's great, being in love with
somebody out of one is markedly worrisome."
Niko gives you a quick kiss, murmuring, "I'll really try to keep anything like
that from happening again, hon, but I can't really promise anything." Then,
considering that, he murmurs, "Chick movie, huh? I've not actually -seen- a
lot of them..."
"I know you can't necessarily avoid it," Elasia chuckles, "But you did ask
which I'd -prefer-." She shakes her head, "You're not missing much, most of
them are pretty much the same."
Niko grins at that. "So I'll just have to watch one," he teases gently, "and
that'll let me know what I need to do next."
Elasia considers this, "Let's make sure it's a -good- one, I don't want you
getting one of those where the guy runs of with the girl's best friend's gym
teacher or something."
Niko muffles a snicker. "How about -you- pick it, okay? I'd really rather not
run off with a gym teacher, either. All the gym teachers I've ever had were
-male-, see, and that just doesn't appeal to me. Not that there's anything
wrong with that."
Oh great, let Ela pick the movie. Hello being doomed. Chiefly because Ela's player has seen about as many chick movies as Niko has. "I'll have to see what I can find." Click, whir, you can here the gears in her head even.
Niko pauses a beat, perhaps realizing that he could be in trouble. "Uh, take
your time, hon. There's no rush on it and all. I can come up with a few
little plot twists on my own, after all."
Elasia laughs softly, ducking her head a bit, "Probably your best bet. I'm
afraid I haven't seen a great deal of movies, let alone anything I can think
of as being appropriate offhand."
Niko shifts to give you a quick kiss. "Well," he murmurs. "In that case, I'll
take care of a plot twist on my own..." And with that, he tries for another
kiss--a much less quick kiss. Matter of fact, it looks like much thought is
involved. How's -that- for plot?
Well, it's not the kind of plot that they show on TV before midnight usually,
but Elasia's more than willing to give it a shot. In fact she seems to really
like this idea quite a bit.
Niko, however, is evil. He pulls away after a few moments. "So. Think we should
watch movies instead?" His eyes glint with humor.
Elasia acks quietly and reaches up to catch a hold of your shirt and pull you
back into this kiss, "Movies, shmovies..."
Niko is evil, but not quite that evil. After a final chuckle, he allows that
pulling to be successful. And this kind of show is shown before midnight,
sure, but only if you pay extra for that channel. Or maybe that doesn't
happen in Georgia?
